Welcome to our home page for the 2010 Dewsbury & Heavy Woollen: Real Ale, Food & Music Festival which took
place between 20th-22nd May 2010. The festival was organised by the Heavy Woollen District branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, in partnership
with many local organisations. It was a special festival to commemorate the 1st CAMRA Beer Exhibition at Dewsbury
Town Hall in 1975.

World Sup 2010

Did you enjoy the Dewsbury Beer Festival? If so why not join in the World Sup 2010 Beer and Music Festival at the West Riding. There are over 30 real ales, a variety of ciders and live music all to be enjoyed in the glorious sun (that’s not promised but forecasted!) Click here for more information.
It was the beer festival that ran out of ale!
Dewsbury Beer Festival was such an astonishing success that the 2,500 visitors drank their way through the original 70 barrels of ale and downed 30 more that were shipped in at short notice to cope with the phenomenal demand.
The heatwave could have had something to do with it, but Dewsbury Town Hall has rarely witnessed such a three-day event in its recent history and it even surpassed the original event staged in 1975 which drew a crowd of 1,500………………………

The cider bar sponsored by the The Stubbing Wharf was a huge success.With 10 different ciders on offer it was a popular bar for all. Comments receivied were the Rum Cask Cider and the Whisky Cask cider were deemed to be very popular.

First Day of the Festival.

The doors opened at 1:00 prompt and the first visitor was the Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Julie Stewart-Turner accompanied by the Town Crier in his full regalia. After a speech by Mike Roebuck, Chair, Heavy Woollen CAMRA, the Trade and VIP session was officially opened by Daisy Claeys from t’brugs Beertje, Bruges.
Judging for the beer of the festival was done shortly after, click here for details of the judges and the winning beers.
Later on former Dewsbury rugby captain Mick ‘Stevo’ Stephenson opened the festival. There was a total of 700 people attended the first day.

After much deliberation, cogitating and ruminating the Beer of the Festival was finally decided.

| 3rd | Leeds Brewery | Midnight Bell | 4.8 | Mild | A premium dark mild which has already won more awards than you can shake a stick at. Surprisingly named after a classic in Gothic literature. |
